The bitmap drawing below shows the turning radius of a later model power wheelchair:
Later Power Wheelchair Turning Radius
The fact that the mid-drive wheels of a later power wheelchair can turn independently of each other gives this wheelchair type a turning radius which is even smaller than that of many manual wheelchairs.
The center point of the later power wheelchair's turning radius is the mid-point of an imaginary line through the "mid-axle" of the wheelchair. The outer edges of the turning radius are defined in some cases by the outermost corners of the foot pedals and where applicable the forward ends of the user's feet and in other cases by the outer corners of the rear swivel wheel assemblies.
