Question 4: How do the challenges faced by
and the performance of transit vehicle
operators "factor into the equation?"
In considering Question 4, we will look at the
various challenges faced by transit vehicle
operators that may vary according to:
- the type of wheelchair a passenger is using
and the challenges faced by that person,
- the unique circumstances of a passenger with
a disability, whether a wheelchair user or not,
- the type, design, and configuration of the
vehicle the operator is operating, and
- the location and configuration of a given
bus stop or other location.
We will also be looking at how the performance
of a vehicle operator can determine how well
difficulties resulting from variations in the
other factors can be overcome in a given
situation and thus whether or how well a given
passenger with a disability can be
accomodated.
