Question 3: Can a wheelchair user or other
person with a disability get to a given bus
stop or other location safely and, if so, does
the bus stop or other location offer suitable
terrain and/or surface area which allows
sufficient space for bus lift or ramp
deployment plus wheelchair or other maneuvering
room?
In order to answer Question 3, we must take a
look at the factors involving bus stops and
other boarding and disembarking locations:
- whether a bus stop or other location can be
accessed from either end of the block on which
it is located via an accessible route,
- whether a bus stop or other location is fully
accessible and can be used easily,
- whether a given bus stop or other location is
only marginally accessible and can be used only
with great difficulty at best, and
- whether a given bus stop or other location is
inaccessible to the point where it cannot be
used at all by wheelchair users and/or other
persons with disabilities.
