Defining True Accessibility

It goes without saying that true accessibility does not just involve the transit system itself. In order for true accessibility to be in place, all "entry and exit points and portals" of a transit system throughout the entire community must be accessible. So long as any "entry or exit point or portal" can be used only with great difficulty or cannot be used at all, true accessibility cannot be said to be fully in place.

The Purpose Of This Slide Show And How It Will Proceed

The purpose of CAN WE USE THIS STOP? -- THE SLIDE SHOW is to analyze and evaluate the true extent of the accessibility situation. In doing so, we will be considering a number of factors that affect the accessibility and usability of a transit system throughout a given community to wheelchair users and other persons with disabilities. After we consider these, we will "put it all together" by showing how each of these has a bearing on a transit system's community-wide accessibility and usability. We will then make a number of recommendations and conclude this Slide Show.

As we consider the factors that we have mentioned, we will be giving consideration to a number of questions.
